From Unsteadiness to Unstoppable: A Story of Success

Written By: Char Terrana, RMTi Consultant

Kathleen is 82 years young and began having balance issues after a fall from her bicycle. She saw a physician for the issue and received some help from her fitness trainer, who simply gave her balance exercises. They helped somewhat, but balance exercises probably will not integrate a retained ATNR and the cause of the unsteadiness will remain. Three reflexes were involved in her integration protocol: TLR, ATNR, and Babinski. Together we chose to work on her foot reflexes first. The difference after just one session was absolute. Our pre-test was for her to walk forward and then backward. She needed to balance herself with one hand on the wall. After foot integrations, she no longer had to use the wall for support. Her confidence returned. Her trainer noticed the difference right away. At our next session when we did our pre-test and I commented that she didn’t reach for the wall, she said “I didn’t even think about it!”

Next, we noticed that she was still listing to her left. We spent some time integrating the ATNR on her left side. She practiced integrating on her own at home in between our sessions. The listing has ceased and she is able to look to the left with her eyes and head independently without any right side accessory movement. She is back on her bike and recently walked all over NYC with her children and grandchildren!

She also practices Rhythmic Movement #1 (Sliding on the back) and Windscreen Wipers regularly at home. Kathleen comes in for a session once a month to assess her reflexes and more often if we need to continue an integration.
